Customer Question

I'm looking to take down a dividing wall in my house at the rear. The wall is between the kitchen and dining room. The rear of the house (kitchen and dining rooms) has already been extended. Is this structurally possible and what are the likely costs.

Hello are you there...

It is definitely possible. You just need a properly sized beam
Expert:  StructuralEng replied 8 months ago.
What is the span? What is the joist length on each side of the beam?
Customer: replied 8 months ago.
I want to remove the diving wall between the kitchen and living room. The lenght of the wall I'd like to remove is 4.2m. The house was extended to create a bigger kitchen and dining room. So 1.8m from the end of the wall it is buttressed to carry two rsj's either side. The width of each of the rooms (living and dining room) is 2.1m (kitchen) and 3.4m (living room).

Here's a scaled plan. I want to remove the wall (solid line) between DR and K. The dashed line is the line of the extension (rsj's)
