Hello. I can help
Expert:  StructuralEng replied 6 months ago.
What kind of driving/walking deck do you plan to use?
Customer: replied 6 months ago.
We will be putting wooden planks across the span. I would like to use three I beams but can use 4
Expert:  StructuralEng replied 6 months ago.
I will size the beams for three. I do recommend having the decking designed to span the 6' between the beams.

4' between the beams
Customer: replied 6 months ago.
I want to use three beams so yes 4 feet between beams
Expert:  StructuralEng replied 6 months ago.
Three W8x21 beams ASTM A 992 Gr. 50 will work for strength and deflection (you'll need cross beams at the quarter points to brace against lateral torsional buckling).
Customer: replied 6 months ago.
I think I only need 6 1/2 feet across so lets change to 2 feet between beams

With a 1.25' cantilever of the decking?
