Customer Question

Hi my name is***** located in Pennsville NJ, I'm making drawings to get approval from the township. I have a span of 16' that would rest on 3-1/2" wall at each end and another span of 18'-4" that would rest on 3-1/2" wall at each end. I would like to over lap the ends of each beam side by side to help stabilize the beam and add gussets where needed. Could you let me know what size beam I would need to hang ceiling joists giving me the open concept flat ceiling. Also any info on getting started with ordering, delivery times, prices, once I get approval from the township. Is there any distributor in my area that you can hook me up with.

Hello

Expert:  StructuralEng replied 6 months ago.

Your description is not very clear. Do you have a picture or sketch you can share?

It sounds like you want two separate beams that will share a bearing wall. Is that correct?
What exactly are the beams supporting?
What is the joist length on each side of each beam?
