I have a bridge with a 23' span. There are 3- I beams

Customer Question

I have a bridge with a 23' span. There are 3- I beams that are W12"x8" flange x 1/2" thick that cross the span. 2" thick oak boards cover the I beams, with the outer two beams directly under the vehicle's tires. I have a 25 ton truck. Ok to cross?

I can help

Expert:  walkereng replied 12 months ago.

I have a few questions:

1. So the two outside beams are approx. 7' apart with the 3rd beam splitting the outside beams?

2. Can you get me the exact depth, flange width and flange thickness to the nearest 1/8" so I can look up your beams in the AISC tables?

3. Do you know the axle spacing and axle loads for your truck?

Customer: replied 12 months ago.
The truck is a 20 ton crane. I'm not sure of the axle spacing or axle loads. I think it is a National crane.

Do you have a picture of the crane that you can share with me?
