the floor joist on the second floor are 12" each side of the current beam, I also have 9 ft ceiling on the first floor. and maybe on the tile, i am not a fan of carpet. i don't mind over doing it on the strength of the beam... also what size footings will i need to handle the end post to hold this beam?
