Hello.

Expert:  StructuralEng replied 11 months ago.

I can help. Is this a slab on grade or an elevated, structured slab.

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
slab on grade, carport 12' x 22'
Expert:  StructuralEng replied 11 months ago.

Are you asking about a uniform load or a concentrated load?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
uniform. the weight of the roof is not an issue at all. it's just the weight of the block wall. is 7" slab going to do the job?
Expert:  StructuralEng replied 11 months ago.

Is the slab thickened at the perimeter?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
to 7"
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
it might be 7" throughout, i don't know. it's 7" on the edge
Expert:  StructuralEng replied 11 months ago.

If it's reinforced, you shouldn't have an issue. Any problem will not be a result of the gravity loading on the slab and would be independent of this question.

this is what i think as well. getting a straight answer from an engineer around here is hard to find. can you stamp plans in florida?
Expert:  StructuralEng replied 11 months ago.

I apologize for the delay. I can't stamp drawings in FL. I don't do work there and maintaining licenses in ever state gets very expensive.
