I'm constructing a vehicular bridge with a 12 foot span. It needs to support 40 tons. If I use 2 I beams, what size should they be?

for that kind of load, you should use a concrete deck with three beams. I can size the beams as this question and I can design the deck for you as an additional service, if you're interested.
