Basement room is 24 x 15 and has a steel ibeam running down the center in three pieces of 8 feet each, supported by two metal posts. Can the ibeams be seamed together so that the posts can be removed?

If you could install moment connections, the beam would not be large enough to remove the posts. You would need a deep piece of reinforcement
