I want to replace a 2x4 lumber bearing wall in the basement

Customer Question

I want to replace a 2x4 lumber bearing wall in the basement of a bungalow. The section to be replaced is 17' long, the centre section between both ends. (furnace room and bedroom at one end, bedroom and living space at the other.) I'm in Ontario, so we get some snow, ant the house is stick framed with rafters. (built in the 50's)What size of steel I-beam would be more than enough for this span?
