Hello, I want to put PV solar panels on my log cabin summer house 5.5x3m.The walls are 44mm logs and the roof is 20mm tongue and grooveHolding the roof up are 5x 125mm x3000 span timbers at c 800mm centers . I want to put on the roof either 6 or 8 solar panels each 15 to 20 kgs. Will the roof take the weight. My guess is it will as I weigh 80kgs and I don't feel it sag if I walk over it.Let me know if you need more info.ThanksAndrew
Already Tried: It's common sense only! Or not if the roof collapse's

I think there may be a problem with the chat. I'm going to switchover to Q&A
Before we get started I'd like to point out that a Professional Engineer's standard of care typically includes a site visit to assess field conditions and get an overall understanding of the structure. This can obviously not be accomplished through the internet. The information provided here is meant for informational purposes only (general sizing and budgeting) and is based on the information provided by you. The information should be verified by a professional engineer who can visit the site to ensure that potentially important information has not been overlooked or omitted.
Hello < I understand exactly what you are saying. With out seeing the structure you can't comment. Ok if I have a 3m long wooden beam x125mm deep x44mm thick What sort of weight would it support in the middle for example
The roof structure is 5mm x 125 mm timbers? Only 5mm wide? Can you double check that? Do you know the grade of timber?
Sorry the summer house is 5meters wide x 3 m deepThe roof has a pitch in the middle so 2.5 from each sideThe beams holding the roof up run from front to back so they are 3m long x 125mm deep and 44mm wide. Between the ends there are 5 timber this thickness holding the roof on so the beam are 80mm apart . The decking on the roof is 20mm tongue and groove.Let me know if you need more detail
,Hello , I have to go to bed now as it 12.00 midnight.I think this has not worked for me very well as I still don't know if my roof will take the weight.
I can continue to work with you on this. It's only 6:30 pm here. Let me know if you'd like to continue or not and I'll have an answer for you when you get up in the morning.
