I have no software specifically for ransomware, but do have the paid subscription for malbyte malware. I have microsoft essentials, too.

You won't get software to defend it. Most Randomsom ware is zero day, when the release it is too late.

Do you back-up your files?

Yes their is a few things, the most important is a back-up plan. If it hits you and you have a back-up you have nothing to worry about.
