Yesterday my files saved with Adobe PDF (white box with small red banner with PDF on it) changed to a black box with Adobe acrobat reader DC Now my files won't open They say crypted
JA: What kind of computer do you have?
Customer: Dell laptop
JA: Have you installed any updates recently?
Customer: I am not sure. I did one but it has been about a month of so ago
JA: Anything else you want the computer expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: I see a message that says non compatible but the choices do not give me Windows 10 Not sure this matters or not

not to be an alarmist, but whenever i hear " suddenly my files are encrypted"

You may have contracted ransomware or cryptoware ( viruses ) ..

If you have any backup or external drives, disconnect them now. Time is of the essence unless this was some random error that encrypted your files, and either way it wont pay to take chances.
