What happens when you try to fill them in?
Also, did this just start or did it ever work before now?
Is your View set to outline, rather than one of the "preview" options?
Please check this, test again.
Go to your app data file, (both in local and roaming) find adobe, then right click illustrator folder. Rename it
with .old after the file name in both locations.
Open illustrator and test again.

You cannot rename it if you are on the actual icon. they have to be renamed in the path i gave you.
are you on a windows version or a mac?
