Hi
I have received a CSIS Ukash ransomware virus that has locked up my Samsung tablet. I have put in Safe Mode but I cannot find any unusual app or infected file to remove. I also downloaded a ransomware removal software but I can’t run it on the tablet while it is locked up or in safe mode. Not sure what else to do. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Can you go to Settings, Applications Manager.

Swipe to the list ALL

Locate in the list Internet. Press it and press Force Stop then Clear Data

Then restart the Tablet and it should then be ok.

I put the tablet into safe mode so I could access the settings and went into the application manager and did a force stop on all running apps. I restarted the tablet and it is still locked up. Unfortunately, that didn`t work.

Sorry, I forgot to clear data. I am not sure what you mean by swipe the list to all.

swipe with your finger, to the list all when you at settings, Applications.

There are different lists and one of them is all.

Also its not just clearing data, you clear data on the app Internet

Ok, I went into the list ALL and selected the internet app, did a force stop and clear data (in safe mode). I restarted the tablet and it is still locked up. I did it twice with no luck.

Go to Settings, Applications.

Do you see an app in the list called BaDoink?

I found no apps in the list called BaDoink

ok, then your going to have to factory reset the Tab, its going to be the only way to remove it.

To do this

  1. Power the device off. ...
  2. Press and hold the Volume up button then press and hold the Power button.
  3. When the Samsung logo appears, release all.
  4. Select wipe data/factory reset. ...
  5. Select Yes -- delete all user data.
  6. Select reboot system now

Let this complete and when you have, setup the Tab and it will now be usable.

Is this going to put it back into factory reset and will I lose my apps that I have downloaded.

yes, but you can download them again, without having to purchase as its all link to the gmail account you used on the Tablet.

OK, I already knew how to do the factory reset, but I was trying to avoid doing that as I didn`t want to have to reload all my apps again as well as contacts , favorites, etc. I guess if that is the only option then I may have no other choice.
