Use these steps to remove saved (form) data from a drop down list:
You can also Control whether Firefox automatically fills in forms
That worked to remove the saved data. But it does not remember the new user ID... as I type in the new ID (that was previously entered) I would expect a dropdown menu to show matched entries, but it does not.
Follow this to save the new data or verify it is set.
I followed these instructions twice, but the fields still do not auto fill. They are always empty when the screen loads.
Have you closed firefox and re-opened. Still no? There is also a free addon that will help.
addon installed, firefox restarted, no difference
You have the current version of firefox. You deleted the old email and the new one does not come up?
I don't know the version. I don't know what email you're referring to.
I meant user ID for a website. You deleted the old one and doing all those things the new one is not auto filling?
To see what version of firefox
Click the menu button , click help and select About Firefox. On the menu bar, click the Firefox menu and select About Firefox. The About Firefox window will appear. The version number is ***** underneath the Firefox name.
It should update you if your not at version 41.
firefox ver 41.0.2
>You deleted the old one and doing all those things the new one is not auto filling?
some websites might purposely make sure that you cannot use autofill, this is usually for security reasons or anti-spam measures.
This is the same site that would autofill the old (wrong) values.
Why does Firefox not remember my settings, e.g. "use custom settings for history" is not set after restarting firefox?
I would reinstall firefox. Backup your favorites and reinstall.
Firefox uninstalled then reinstalled, bookmarks imported. No difference at all... autofill does not work on the site where it used to work. And firefox Options: privacy settings don't seem to remember "use custom settings for history" after restarting firefox.
I am not sure what has changed but something on your pc. Do you have a malware and antivirus program on your pc. Between the reinstall, adding the add-on something is manipulating your settings. You can try a malware cleaner free called malwarebytes at www.malwarebytes.org. Also a program called ccleaner at www.piroform.com which you can use to repair your computers registry. Al these products are free.
