Adobe Indesign will not launch. It begins displays the opening

Customer Question

Adobe Indesign will not launch. It begins displays the opening splath screen, goes to "initializing", then reports "Launching the application", and then nothing happens. The splash screen continues to display, but nothing else. I can still open other apps, including Photoshop. I can right click the taskbar icon to Close the Window.

When this happened before, I resolved it by deleting Adobe Indesign from my computer and then redownloading and reinstalling it.

I am running Windows 8.1 and I am subscribed to Adobe Creative Cloud, so I simply download from Creative Cloud

Can you open Event Viewer and look through the events for the indesign or cloud process and see what the error reports? type/copy the details from the description menu.

It's 6/5 4:08 AM here. Those logs doesnt show anything. When you select a log, it will show details under the general tab, can you look for logs and match the time when you launched the application, then see what it says in the details tab?

I started Adobe Indesign while keeping this chat session open and keeping the Event Viewer Open. Then I went to Event viewer, Windows Log/applications, clicked refresh the the "Action" menu, and nothing changed in the Event viewer screen.

and see if there is a restore point available from last week?

Kamil, it is working. But, honestly, I don't think it is because of you. The restore failed. A message said to turn off anti-virus and start again. Then I decided to try launching after disconnecting my external monitor, resetting the local display. Now it loads. I think I may have created the problem a couple weeks ago when I tried changing the settings in Adobe to allow larger menus - my laptop can run at 3200 X 1800 or using the external monitor, at 1920 X 1080. My hunch is Adobe won't launch with conflicting profiles. What do you think?

If the restore begins once, it does a little bit of it's stuff even if it has failed, that would be for a particular thing it might be trying to restore. I am not sure about the resolution issue, until i test it but i do not think the resolution settings can be the cause of this. The minimum required resolution is 1024 x 768 display and (1280 x 800 recommended) and your chosen resolutions supports both.

I wonder, a couple weeks ago I switched to my laptop screen to get a closeup look at the highest 3200 X 1800 resolution, then back to the external monitor at 1280 X 800. If I then tried to launch Indesign would I create a conflict. Well, I don't want to argue about whether you fixed it. But, if the problem recurs in the next couple of weeks, what then?
