Customer Question

I have installed Windows 7 Home Premium on a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop. I bought it OEM and am unable to get past validatlon. Below I have posted what the MGA tool gave me. Hello my name is***** and I would be happy to assist you today.

Are you sure you received a legitimate copy and/or product key? I can't see any other reason you should be having a problem activating it.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Hi Chris. I just asked to have this question cancelled because I have solved the problem. it's that I have on OEM version of Windows 7. I therefore got the message that my product key is blocked.

Expert:  Chris R. replied 1 year ago.
You mean that you were trying to use it on another machine when it is already installed on another? If that is the case, then that will certainly cause a problem.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

No. I bought Windows 7 OEM Home Premium 32 bit for a laptop that used to run Vista. I formatted the hard drive, and installed Windows 7 on it.

Expert:  Chris R. replied 1 year ago.
But you are ok now right?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

No, I am not ok. If you can figure out how to install this on my Dell laptop, I will be very happy and will cancel my request for a refund of this question

Expert:  Chris R. replied 1 year ago.
It should just work. If you do a clean format, and a fresh install with the Windows 7 disc it should work and activate just fine, unless you did not receive a legitimate Windows 7 OEM disc. Where did you buy the Windows 7? Did it come sealed in a small box with the product key sticker on it?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Did the clean format. Did a fresh install of Windows 7. I received a legitimate OEM disc. I bought it at ebay. And yes, it did come sealed in a small box with the product key sticker on it.

Expert:  Chris R. replied 1 year ago.
Just so I am clear on the problem, you are getting a message that the Windows is not genuine when you try to activate your windows? correct?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

I got "the product key is invalid" and "the specified product key is blocked"

Expert:  Chris R. replied 1 year ago.
I hate to say it, but I am going to stick with my gut that the problem is the product key itself. Perhaps the disc is ok, but the product key doesn't seem to be. There are certainly fakes and illegal copies that exist. If you are getting that error message then that means Microsoft blocked that product key for some reason. I would either contact Microsoft and ask about the product key you received, or contact your seller and tell them what is happening. If the seller gives you problems, then file a dispute with Ebay. I know hacks exist that disable this check, but you really don't want to go down that road. Better to stay completely legit with Windows to avoid hassles and potential legal trouble.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

I have already contacted Microsoft about it and they said they cannot help me. Yes, I have already contacted eBay and asked for a refund.

I appreciate your trying to help me, but everything you told me I did already. Ttherefore I still want my money back for this question.

Expert:  Chris R. replied 1 year ago.
I would buy from Amazon or NewEgg. You won't have any problems with them. I am going to send the request to customer service to cancel this question for you.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Amazon and newegg don't ship software like this to Israel.

Thanks for agreeing to have this question cancelled

. I appreciate it.

No problem at all. Good luck!
