My Task List for my android did not update the time change. Any way to fix that?

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

Hello. My name isXXXXX will be your Primary Care Technician and I can assist you with your question.

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

What application are you using for your tasks?

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

Also, does your android device show the correct time?

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

If you are using the Google calendar app, you should check under settings - home time zone.

Customer:

I believe it is the Google Task List - not sure.

Customer:

Yes my phone has the right time.

Customer:

I do not know how to do that on my Samsung Gallexy SII.

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

Ok... on the device, touch the calendar app to open it.

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

Then touch the menu button - on the SII that is the button on the left bottom - it looks like three lines

Customer:

Hummm - The Task List is seperate from a calander. I do not use the calander on the phone.

Customer:

Ok I did touch the three lines on the lef

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

OK... usually, if it's synced by Google it's done through the calendar app unless you are using something else.

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

does it have a settings option?

Customer:

sorry - I am ollllddd and do not understand these new things....

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

Ah... don't worry. I forget them all the time.

Customer:

Ok - I have a calander that came with the phone should I go in there

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

LOL... I just had to do it on my S4 to give you instructions.

Customer:

LOL

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

Yes, we can start in there.... and just check the time zone.

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

Open that up, then touch the menu button... you should have an option for settings.

Customer:

oops - I lost a step here....Open calander and then what

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

Then touch the menu button on the left bottom

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

then settings

Customer:

ok

Customer:

then

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

Then there is a setting called home time zone

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

check that to make sure it is correct

Customer:

oops - nope - not on SII - but there are the following

Customer:

Lock time zone

Customer:

Select Time Zome

Customer:

Zone

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

ok.... select time zone.

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

That's the one

Customer:

Hummmm - It does not let me "click" on it - It must be part of the "Lock Time Zone" and that is NOT checked.....

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

Can you see the time zone there?

Customer:

yes and it is correct

Customer:

It says Mountain Time

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

OK. That's fine then.

Customer:

Are we on Mountain Time or Day Ligjt savings

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

It depends on where you are.

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

Actually, no it doesn't

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

We are currently not on DST

Customer:

I just checked it amd the task list is still wrong on the time

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

We just came off it.

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

Where do you enter your tasks?

Customer:

OK then when it says Mountain Time it is correct.

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

Correct.

Customer:

I wonder if now that I hit the Lock Time Zone if I need to turn my phone on and off

Customer:

I enter my task on an app called Task List

Customer:

Nope - Tasks

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

"Tasks" are not well defined in Android nor by Google.... Google has different iterations of the task list.

Customer:

Oh mu

Customer:

Oh my

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

The reason I mentioned calendar, is that's currently what they call tasks... calendar also has "tasks" that do not sync with Android. :-/

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

But there are third party apps that do.

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

Do you see your tasks in your google account?

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

When you log into google on your computer?

Customer:

?????

Customer:

Sorry

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

It's ok... I started by assuming that you were syncing tasks between android and your google account.

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

But that may not be the case.

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

Is the SII the only place you ever see your tasks?

Customer:

NO not the case BUT that would be awesome I think

Customer:

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my task list and have turned many people on to it.

Customer:

I would hate to have to start all over

Customer:

Yes the only place

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

OK.

Customer:

Turned phone on and off and it did not change.

Customer:

I wonder if this is a problem in this app

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

It may be... just a sec. I have an SII I am going to start up.

Customer:

cool

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

Who is your service provider?

Customer:

Boost Mobile

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

Ok... so this must be the legacy Task app.

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

Can you please go to your main screen on the device... then press the menu button, then settings.

Customer:

It is a big blue check mark on top of a calander looking background

Customer:

I purchased it on Google Play it is not the one that came with the phone

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

OK... that helps actually.

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

Is it this one?

Customer:

YES !!!

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

Ok... I will install it and check

Customer:

Sorry you have to do this

Customer:

I think there is a free one that has ads

Customer:

But I have the one I had to pay for

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

It's ok... you are right, actually.

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

lol

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

I thought you were old and didn't know this stuff.

Customer:

I guess I just "hear" things

Customer:

But I AM OLLLDDD

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

Ok... this is attached to your google account. So first, let's make sure you have the latest version.

Customer:

65 - arrrrggggg - I just "TURNED OF AGE"

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

Oh... not any more.

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

lol.

Customer:

It will NOT delete my tasks will it?

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

That's not old ata ll.

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

I hope not.

Customer:

What is the latest version number?

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

No, it won't... I just installed it and it didn't delete my tasks

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

1.5.3

Customer:

That is what I have.

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

OK.

Customer:

This one is a stumper !!!

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

Ok... please go to gmail.com and log into your google account

Customer:

OK THERE

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

OK... now where it says gmail in the upper left with a down arrow, click there and select tasks

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

That should bring up your tasks.

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

If the list is tiny, you can click the diagonal arrow to open it in its own window

Customer:

COOLER THAN COOL

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

Does that have your tasks in it already?

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

It should

Customer:

YES

Customer:

COOL

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

When you open the task, right under the date, it will show you where the task came from - if it was manually created, it will just show a box.

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

If it came from an email it will show that it is related to an email and let you click on it.

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

That will let you see where the due date is coming from.

Customer:

I have NEVER done ANYTHING from an email

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

Ok... you can... if you are in an email and select "followup" or flag it, it will add it to your tasks.

Customer:

cool

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

These tasks in google do not have times on them.

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

And this could be why they do not update.

Customer:

HUMMMM - I can set a time on my SII ...... you can if you want but you do not have to.

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

The time feature is specific to the app.

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

When you set a time in the app, it may give you the message that it doesn't sync with Google.

Customer:

OK....................Hummm.............

Customer:

Nope

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

BUT... there is a default time that the app puts on tasks.

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

That will show up on tasks entered in the app

Customer:

Does not give any message

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

Mine did... but it may just be the first time.

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

But the fact is, the time doesn't sync with google from this app.

Customer:

ohhhh

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

Not because of the app... but because google tasks don't support it.

Customer:

hummmm

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

This is what I mean when I was saying that their definition of tasks is a bit fuzzy.

Customer:

so I will just have to adjust during this time .....

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

I actually use the calendar for tasks, which works basically the same way, except that it does support time sync.

Customer:

darn

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

Let me check the app, though.

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

And see why it didn't adjust.

Customer:

I have LOTS AND LOTS of tasks and many of them have times

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

Now that we know what app it is.

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

See what happens if you open the task on your computer and then save it.

Customer:

hold on

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

And all is not lost. At least we know it's the app and not google. They do have contact information for the developer.

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :
Contact Developer

Customer:

Interesting - You can set the date in Google but you cannot set the time

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

Correct.

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

Like I was saying. These google tasks do not have a time at all.

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

That is something that the app you have is doing by itself.

Customer:

OK - Sooooo - I should email the developer and see if they can help - Right?

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

That's what I suggest. It seems to be a bug in their app.

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

They are a known developer with other products, so I would think they have run into this.

Customer:

THANKS SO VERY MUCH FOR ALLLL YOUR TIME !!!

Customer:

I have not emailed all the people I turned on to this app yet to see

Customer:

if they are having same proble,

Customer:

problem

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

You are quite welcome. If you have any other questions, just let me know. Please take a moment to rate my level of service.

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

I suspect they all will have the same issue.

Customer:

I ABSOLUTELY WILL !!!!!

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

(maybe you should lie low...

Customer:

Do you mean - Maybe everyone who uses this has contacted

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

They might be looking for you right now!

Customer:

the developer today and they will FIX it?

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

That's what will usually happen. They surely won't just ignore it if it is widespread

Customer:

ROTFL - could be - They all love it as much as I do and this

Customer:

could be making them all crazy like it is ,me

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

They are too busy trying to fix it to call you and ask

Customer:

true !!!

Customer:

thanks again

XXXXX XXXXXnigan :

You're welcome. Have a great day.
