I wish to remove the PC Cleaner Pro popup image from my computer

Resolved Question:

I wish to remove the PC Cleaner Pro popup image from my computer screen.
Submitted: 2 years ago.
Category: Software
Expert:  Molinari replied 2 years ago.
Ok, first is it listed in control panel - programs and features ?

If so :

Click Start and click Control Panel

In the Programs and features section, highlight PC Cleaner Pro and click the Uninstall button

If it not listed, How long has this been happening?

Customer: replied 2 years ago.

I have tried to uninstall the program as suggested, but a window (PC Cleaner Pro) opens over the Windows image asking one to reconsider. In the left corner there is an uninstall option, but nothing responds when one clicks on this option. Clearly the software has hacked into the Windows program! What do I do? Must I simply wait until something happens? Perhaps until hell freezes over! I look forward to your reply. Thanks for the help thus far.

Try it in safe mode (tap F8 during boot)...

Customer: replied 2 years ago.

I re-booted the computer tapping F8, but I can't shift the pop-up window. Perhaps if you downloaded the PC Cleaner Pro software to your computer, you will see what I am struggling with.

Your reply please

The popup remains?
Try holding the alt key and hitting tab, it should allow you to change windows.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
You appear not to understand what I am trying to tell you. Each time I attempt to uninstall the 'PC Cleaner Pro' programme, as the uninstall facility starts up, a PC Cleaner Pro window opens over the Uninstall window and nothing further happens. I can now close this window by hovering the arrow over the PC icon on the Task bar where a miniature window opens with a cancel feature (white cross in red square). As soon as I click to uninstall, the PC window reappears and then nothing happens. If you cant help, please refund my money and I will try Microsoft directy.
Expert:  Molinari replied 2 years ago.
I've done this at least 7 times.
So nothing at all happens when you hit alt & tab ?
Hit ctrl shift and esc athe the same time and see if pc cleaner is listed in the process tab... It hould be these 3 clean pro\uninstall.exe, pc clean pro.exe, pccleanpro.pkg
Click on each one and chose end process:

Thanks. We now seem to be making progress. With the pc opened on the unintall page, I pressed ctrl, shift+esc keys and opened the 'Windows Task Manager, window. I found 'PCCleaners.exe' under the 'Processes' tab, but none of the other items listed by you. Can you suggest where to now?

I cant use the technical details. A bit beyond me.

Expert:  Molinari replied 2 years ago.
Ok in task manager, highlight the ones that are there abd click end process.
They may try to come back.

Le me know if you get that far....

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
In uninstall window I opened the 'Task Manager', highlighted thefile 'PCCleaners.exe' (the only one) and clicked 'End process'. A small window called "unable to terminate process' with message "The handle is invalid". ?
Expert:  Molinari replied 2 years ago.
Ok, try it in safe mode, (tap F8 during boot)
Expert:  Molinari replied 2 years ago.
download and run this, (it's free so don't buy anything) click on download latest version on the top right corner:

http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/

Run a full or quick scan, full would be better, and let it delete anything it finds,
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Malware full scan done No malicious items detected. I'm not surprised as PC Cleaner Pro was downloaded from one of the Windows help screens and is said to be Microsoft approved!

If you can do the first 2 parts, you can download and run this reg file to remove it from the registry:

http://wikisend.com/download/372114/run.reg

Downoad it and double click it, when it asks if you want to merge or add, say yes....

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Thanks, XXXXX XXXXX dont think I could cope with this at my age (74). I dont even know where to start. Perhaps with DOS commands in Command Prompt? I believe that there is some trick to uninstall this. The vendors of the software give two phone numbers in the window blocking the uninstall process (presumably in the USA). If you are stationed in the USA, perhaps you could call them and ask how foreign clients, whose currency is not accepted, are expected to uninstall a program which is not available to them. The numbers are: 1-XXX-XXX-XXXX and (XXX) XXX-XXXX. Your reply will determine where we go from here. This has been avaluable learning experience.
Expert:  replied 2 years ago.
For the first part hit CTRL + shift + esc like before from the process tab and end the processes (if they are present)
uninstall.exe
pc clean pro.exe
pccleanpro.pkg

Then delete the folder

C:\Program Files\pc clean pro
C:\Program FIles\common programs\pc clean pro

Then download and run this reg file to remove it from the registry:

http://wikisend.com/download/372114/run.reg

Downoad it and double click it, when it asks if you want to merge or add, say yes...
