My wife is 66 and I am 65. Can she file for her personal ss

My wife is 66 and I am 65. Can she file for her personal ss benefits now, then refile for spousal benefits (which will be higher than her personal benefits) when I turn 70 and begin receiving my benefits?

Yes, because your wife’s birthday is ***** 1 1954 or earlier, she is grandfathered under the changes made to the filing strategies by the Bi-partisan Budget amendment.

But HERE where it’s spousal benefits that are desired LATER (as opposed to the more commonly requested spousal now and let their own grow) this is always possible.

Although benefits cannot be “stacked,” as SSA puts it, they will always pay the higher benefit (by paying a combination of benefits) that takes the individual UP TO the higher amount
