Kindly give me a few minutes to prepare my response.
How old is your ex-spouse?
If he is 67 and has contributed to the Social Security system and you are now 65 and not married, I do not see any reason why you should not be eligible to collect on his earnings eventhough he is not collecting benefits. You do not have to wait until he is dead to qualify for his benefits. You can apply for his benefits now. You can apply at your local office as the divorced spouse. For more information, click here.
