Customer Question

My husband was receiving SS benefits and I was getting a spousal benefit. He passed away a few days ago and I am wondering what that will mean to me in benefits. I do not know if I will still receive the spousal benefit, receive his former amount, or if I will be forced to choose between his and mine. I am 67 and was hoping to be able to let mine grow until 70. Can you help?

Hi. Sorry to hear of your loss.

Hi. You can take survivors benefits, but still keep your retirement benefit growing until you are 70. Hope this answers the question. Thank you.
