beginning now I have turned 66 and my benefits have changed from disability to retirement, they have informed me that I will be paid the usual $886 for August around September 21st. Does that mean I will receive nothing during August?

Social Security payments are always made for the previous month. Therefore, you should receive in August your disability payment for July in August.
