I receive survivor benefits from first husband who has past

Customer Question

I receive survivor benefits from first husband who has past away. If I remarry can I continue to receive this survivor benefit? If my second husband dies can I receive benefits from both?

Usually, you can’t get widow’s benefits if you remarry before age 60. But remarriage after age 60 (or age 50 if you’re disabled) won’t prevent you from getting benefit payments based on your former spouse’s work..

If your second husband dies - you will be eligible for widow’s or widower’s benefits based on your second husband's work record. However - you may not receive both benefits at the same time - but will be entitled for the larger.Questions?
