Customer Question

I will turn 66 on August 30, 2017. What if I take an early retirement this year, at 65 years old? How will that effect my social security payment? I do have insurance coverage with my husband's company so I am not too worried about Medicare. I know I cannot receive Medicare until 66.

Hi. My name is ***** ***** I will be happy to help you. If you apply for social security benefits before your full retirement age, you benefits will be permanently reduced. Lets say you will apply for your benefits in Jun, you will receive 92% of your benefits. If you apply in August, you will receive 93%. Here's early benefits calculator: are eligible for Medicare as soon as you turn 65. The enrollment period started on May 1. Here's your Medicare eligibility and premium calculator
