Customer Question

I am a widow who will be 60 in 3 months. I receive $2700 a month disability retirement from teacher retirement system. Should I file for my husbands SS at age 60?

It may not be prudent to file at age 60 because you would receive reduced benefits. It may be prudent to wait until you reach your full retirement age before applying to get the maximum benefits that you would be entitled to.
