I was turned down half of my ex-spouse' benefit

Customer Question

I was turned down for receiving half of my ex-spouse' benefit ( married 17 yrs) or my current husbands's (now receiving SSA). - married 37 years. I had not contributed to SSA but rather a pension plan. Shouldn't I be eligible for half of my ex-husband's? I had an attorney but he didn't check that I had had an ex-husband that I had been married to for over 10 years.
