Does SSA offer a kind of supplemental insurance

Customer Question

Does SSA offer a kind of supplemental insurance for chronically ill adults? I came across something about an application that could only be filed once, for people who had already qualified for disability payments, and had medicare benefits. This was something in addition to that, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Thank you!

If you are collecting SS disability benefits but your income is less than $700 per month, you may also qualify for supplemental security income. To apply, you must apply in person at any SSA office and say you want to apply for SSI
