I recently completed 60 days of incarceration at a Federal

Customer Question

I recently completed 60 days of incarceration at a Federal Prison Camp. I asked my attorney about my social security benefits prior to incarceration and was told if anything they would only be able to withhold Disability while I was incarcerated-not retirement. I only get retirement. Just at the end of incarceration, I got a letter saying they might withhold my benefits while incarcerated, but they never did. I was in for the months of Mar. and April, and I received both of those checks. I then also received May's check. Now I got a letter yesterday saying again they were not only withholding future checks, but that I owe them the money back I received while incarcerated. I am very confused. My social security is all I have to live on.

Hello. My specialty is focusing on YOUR Financial needs. Financial Planner/Business Owner for 20 years. CPA,PFS,QFP,GMMA.
They made a mistake and paid while incarcerated. They should start paying SS retirement after they have gotten those two months back.
I'll offer you a call to explain what and how to proceed.
