Thank you for your question and thanks for using JustAnswer.com
How are you today?
So you are receiving SSI, which is a low income benefit ...or, are you receiving a regular disability or retirement benefit based on your earnings?
This will determine how your benefits are reduced.
If at all
I was unemployed for quite some time
Okay that's great news. How old are you?
(that's great news you are on retirement)
Okay. Your benefit will only be reduced if you earn over $15,120 during the year
If you earn over $15,120 then your benefit is reduced $1 for every $2 above that amount.
So, if you earn less than that there is no reduction whatsoever.
Will you earn below that amount?
no it will be above that
Okay, so you will just need to figure the amount that is above that, and divide that in half. That's what social security will reduce
Once you reach full retirement age, there is no reduction whatsoever
thank you very much
