I realize you have a question about social security. My goal is to provide you with excellent service, and help you better understand your options.
How are you today?
How old was your husband when he first filed for social security?
Okay, then he would not get a full 1/2 of your benefit
His benefit would be more like 35% of your benefit
if he took the spousal benefit
why because he should have waited until he was older to apply for SS?
If he waited until age 66 he would get a full 50%
and that will stay the same when he reaches 66?
That is correct, the reduction is permanent
Is 35% of mine in addition to what he is able to collect? Sorry just trying to make sure I understand. Just seems like he is collecting a small amount.
No, he can draw his own amount, or 35% of yours, whichever is greater
Thank you very much
