Ask a Social Security Question, Get an Answer ASAP!
Good afternoon Carlie, I'm Doug, and I'm sorry to hear of the confusion. My goal is to provide you with excellent service today. Social security child survivor benefits last only through age 18, or if you are still enrolled in a full time high school program and up until the later of graduation, or age 19 and 2 months. I do wish that I had better news for you, and I empathize with your situation, however there are no additional survivor benefits paid the child of a deceased parent while they are in college---unless they still happen to be under the age of 18 at the time they are in college. And then the survivor benefits would stop at age 18. I understand that you may be disappointed by the Answer you received, as it was not particularly favorable to your situation. Had I been able to provide an Answer which might have given you a successful legal outcome, it would have been my pleasure to do so. You may reply back to me using the Reply to Expert link if you have additional questions. Kindly take a moment to rate my service to you based on the understanding of the law I provided. Please understand that I have no control over the how the law impacts your particular situation. Thank you, Doug
