If I move from the USA will I be able to receive my social security due me in a couple of years?
Already Tried: nothing
Good morning,So long as you have a place for the government to send your check or deposit your benefits, you may reside anywhere in the world that you desire and collect your social security retirement.MediCare is a different story though, and Medicare only provides coverage in the US. So if you live out of country, you will either need to travel to the US for your medical needs or have a separate health insurance policy in the country where you settle down. You may reply back to me using the Reply to Expert link if you have additional questions; and if you do, I ask that you please keep in mind that I do not know what you may already know or with what you need help, unless you tell me.Kindly take a moment to rate my service to you based on the understanding of the law I provided. Please understand that I have no control over the how the law impacts your particular situation, and I trust you agree that it would be unfair for me to be punished by a (negative rating) ----the first 2 stars/faces----for having been honest with you about the law.I wish you the best in 2012,Doug
At what age do the benefits begin? I am not employed.
You may take early retirement benefits as early as age 62. However, if you take retirement before age 66, your benefits will be reduced based on taking early retirement. Likewise, if you delay taking benefits after age 66, your benefits will increase by 8% for each year that you delay until age 70. You may reply back to me again, using the Reply to Expert link, if you have additional questions.Would you please rate me highly now, based on my assistance to you in understanding the law.I wish you the best in 2012,Doug
