I currently draw SS on my own record. I am 75 years old, my wife will be 70 this month and will start drawing on jher own record. Her benefits are more than double mine. Can I start drawing of her when she starts receiving benefits at the end of this month?
Already Tried: I have not tried anything.
Hello and and thank you for your question. For over 34 years, I have answered questions just like yours. And I look forward to assisting you. Yes you can as you are entitled to collect your benefit or one half of your spouse's benefit, which ever is higher. But you cannot combine benefits. To apply, you need to contact the SSA immediately after your wife receives her first check. And the SSA will also adjust your benefits for up to six months once you apply.
**Please let me know if my assistance was anything less than "OK Service", as I am compensated based on whether or not I have assisted you with your issue.
