Customer Question

My wife passed away on September 30, 2004. She was 44 years old. People have been telling me that I am eligible(I'm 60 years old) to receive a widowers pension based on her benefits even though I still work. Is there any truth to this?

Yes, since you are at least 60, the number of credits needed to have family members be eligible for survivors benefits depends on the age when you die. The younger you are, the fewer credits you need, but nobody needs more than 40 credits (10 years of work).
