Thanks!

Your best bet then, Is to simply do a factory restore on the phone, and start from scratch.

  1. Switch the phone off.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Down, Power and Camera buttons at the same time.
  3. When the phone vibrates release the Power button but keep the Camera and Volume Down buttons held for a further five seconds.

The phone will now be reset.

Keep in mind, this is going to clear out your data, contacts, etc.. But if you just got t he phone four hours ago. Then this shouldnt be much of an issue..

Once the reset is complete, the phone will start back up like brand new.

Simply create a new google account for it.. And make sure to put in an age thats over 18..

If you have any further questions, let me know.

Ok.. When you tried to add apps..

Did it ask you to create a google account?

If so.. do you remember the name you picked for that google account?

Customer replied 284 days and 21 hours ago.

the only account that was created was a windows live account

Thanks..

Heres what to do. Use a computer.

Sign into your hotmail account online by going to live.com, and then signing in with the hotmail account name and password XXXXX set up on the phone.

Then.. Once signed in , at the top right click profile. ( its small, and under your name at the top right)

Then, click edit details, ( for your personal details)

Then click edit next to contact info

It will show your birthdate here.. You can edit it..

Then save the changes.. Now.. When you access your phone with the same windows live hotmail account, it should show your age change and allow y ou to resume downloading apps.

Let me know if you run into any issues, thanks!

Live.com , is the same thing as yahoo.

Your windows phone, should be based off a live.com account.. That is where its getting your account age from to block you from downloads.

So sign into your live.com account that your using on the phone, from a computer, and complete these steps!

Sign into your hotmail account online by going to live.com, and then signing in with the hotmail account name and password XXXXX set up on the phone.

Then.. Once signed in , at the top right click profile. ( its small, and under your name at the top right)

Then save the changes.. Now.. When you access your phone with the same windows live hotmail account, it should show your age change and allow y ou to resume downloading apps.

Thanks .. If you change the birthdate, next you need to log into

http://www.zune.net/en-US/ and PROMOTE CHILD ACCOUNT.

It should pop up once you login with the hotmail account we just changed the DOB on.

If it doesnt pop up.. Then go to the account options section.. And you should see it there.

Customer replied 284 days and 19 hours ago.

I will give this a try...and get back to you

Sure thing.. This shouldl be the last step we have to do.. As a windows phone, and its apps revolves around your Live.com account, and your zune account.

Customer replied 284 days and 17 hours ago.

no LUCK.....nothing is working...and I tried all what you instructed me to do.

Then you have no option but to master reset the phone. Sometimes it lets you promote the account from a minor account, to an adult account if its done the same day.

But your situation seems to be one of the exceptions to the rule. You have no choice at this point but to master reset the phone, or you will always be stuck with the child account.

Now, as far as your contacts, If you back up your contacts first, you can then reload them after you reset the phone.

The page below is about nokia backup service, which will makes copies of your contacts.

Once backed up.. You then would need to do the factory reset.

  1. Switch the phone off.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Down, Power and Camera buttons at the same time.
  3. When the phone vibrates release the Power button but keep the Camera and Volume Down buttons held for a further five seconds.

I will choose to go to TMobile tomorrow to do a master reset...as I don't want to take any more chances in this phone crashing as it did yesterday...thanks for your continued advise.
