I have a blackberry torch and since my work migrated their email system I cannot send emails and get a general failure message with a red X. No problems prior to this migration. The IT guys can't fix but I can see from blackberry help that others have had this problem. Please help.
Details of my work migration are "Information Services are working to migrate all University staff mailboxes to Exchange 2010, and hence an upgraded version of Outlook Web Access (OWA)."
Already Tried: Resetting email account on Blackberry. Rebooting. Deleting old email account before migration. Cleanup messages so memory used is low.

Yes I still need help the problem is still there.
Did their email server settings change after the migration? Have you changed them to reflect the new settings?
Yes I deleted the old email on my blackberry phone and set up the new one using the new settings. I've no problems receiving emails but it's replying that is causing a problem - figured out now that I can send emails if I add the sender to my contacts and send a new email that way but it's a pain - I really want to just be able to reply without getting a "general failure" message most times (some actually get through but about 90% don't).
That is very strange. When replying, how do they show up in the reply to section of the email? Sounds to me like something is slightly wrong with the reply to address.
they just show up as normal.i hit reply to and the senders name comes up. then the message sends i get a tick/check mark for about a second then the red x shows with general failure noted
Use the BB Desktop Software and make a complete backup of your phone. Reset the phone to Factory Defaults and setup the email again. See if it works now. If it's the exact same as before, restore your phone using the backup. That way we can test this without loosing anything. Let me know what happens.
Relist: Answer came too late.I know others have had this problem as it is on blackberry support forums but the actual solution is not available - i thought it would be a simpler fix than what has been suggested.
Hi there and welcomeCan you do the following pleaseIn the message view, select options > general options. Set the "Show recent contacts when composing email" to "no". exit and save. Then try sending an email to someone not in your contacts. If you still have the problem, please let me know.

is this from my pc as i dont have this option in my phone?
I don't have these options on either my phone or my work email account?
I have been experimenting and can reply if I check "reply to all" it seems to let the email through then but the sent email doesn't show in my email account? This is turning into a mess.
The settings will be on the phoneYou need to select options when in the email appare you doing it there?
Yes when in mail on my phone my options are:
I've been in all the categories except for the last 2 as they're not relevant and can't see "general options" or "Show recent contacts when composing email"
ok, Try turning on Airplane mode then off give it a few minutes to load the network then try again and see if it emailsIf not can you check email filterws and delete any listed there by doing the following On the Home screen, click the Messages icon. Press the BB Dots key > Options > Email Filters. Highlight an email filter. Press the BB Dots key.Delete any listed there and try please
No airplane mode on my phone so switched off connections and then restored. No filters in place either. Tried again and still same problem. Anything else you can think off?
Factory Reset. This is the only other solution. It will clear all data on the BB and return it to new, but this should resolve it else we know 100% it is the new system they have implemented and not related to your phone. To do this, do the following pleaseMake sure you have the latest version of the Blackberry Desktop Manager installed. You can install it from herehttp://au.blackberry.com/services/desktop/Once installed, run it and connect the phone to the computerThen click on the Help button labeled with a question mark, then move the mouse over Support resources, and then click on Support toolsClick Factory Reset and let it run.Once completed, please test.If you still have the problem, its the new system, it will not be related to your phone.Let me know if you have any difficulties please, and please don't forget to rate my service.Thank You
I've run the software but how do I get the password XXXXX enter the site?
Which site? The one where your emails are?
Wel I've reset to factory settings and set up the email again and still the problem persists. Any other ideas?
It will then likely be a setting on the server causing this.Restoring the Blackberry to Factory Default would resolve any issue on the BB causing this.there can be a policy or setting on the server forcing you to only send to contacts. It will most likely be in the BES serverAre you able to have the IT Dept check this?
Well I've handed it over to them although they couldn't fix previously. Thanks anyway.
