My iPhone suddenly stopped being able to send or receive phone calls and text messages. In the upper left corner of screen, Searching.... and the antenna are displayed. My bill payment is current, so what is wrong?
Already Tried: I have fully powered off and back on. I have done an iTunes update. I have checked settings, and Airport Mode is off. There are no changes to other settings that I am aware of.

Ok, first what you need to do is to soft reset your iPhone
to do that please press together both Power and Home button and hold them until Apple logo shows up
after it shows up please release both buttons and wait for phone to restart
If by "soft reset" you mean pressing the button on the top of the phone case, I have already done that with no change.
NO
please follow steps from above exaclty
OK, have pressed both buttons simultaneously
phone is now powered off
Apple image has reappeared
phone has rebooted
OK, phone seems fine now. How/why did this happen?
Phones sometimes stuck and needs to be restarted this way
it doesn't happen very often
Huh... in 3 years, this has never happened to me!
Thanks for the help. Glad it wasn't something more complicated
