how do i synk a BlackBerry bold 9700 with Microsoft outlook

how do i synk a BlackBerry bold 9700 with Microsoft outlook PC? the Blackberry operates on series 5 and the new blackberry Sync program is in series 7, and they don't seem to work together to make them synk

everything I can think of. reloading blackberry sync programmes.

That blackberry should be able to load the 6.0 version of the OS, which will allow it to sync with your pc and outlook ..

You mentioned series 5, so we would want t o upgrade to the newest os first.

First, go here and select update your software.

http://us.blackberry.com/update/

Click check for updates, it will prompt you to download a file. Download that file, once downloaded, run the file.

Its going to check for and find the 6.0 update, and then have you connect the phone to install it.

Once installed, you next need to update the blackberry software on the pc next.

Do so by going to this link, and clicking download today.

Once you have downloaded and installed this file.. Restart the computer.

Also, restart the phone for good measure.

You should now be able to use the Blackberry desktop software to sync with your phone again. Let me know if you run into any issues and I will continue to assist you as needed.

I have done all you said, and it is still not syncing. BlackBerry Bold 9700 is now upgraded to os 6 and blackberry desktop sycn software is now upgraded to 7. when I start to sync the process looks like it is happening, but at the end no knew calendar information passes from handheld to PC, and visa versa.

Any further thoughts?

Question, its your blackberry calendar your trying to sync with outlooks calendar, correct..

What version of outlook do you have? 2003, 2007, 2010 ?

Yes, it is blackberry calendar and Microsoft calendar i am trying to sync. Also Contacts , tasks, and memos.

I am using Microsoft Office Outlook 2007

I haven't heard from Dustin for a day. is he off duty, in which case he should have let me know. Can someone else help? still the same problem unable to sync data [such as calender and contacts]Blackberry Bold 9700 on series 6, with Microsoft office 2007, using blackberry desktop software series 7. problem started when Blackberry desktop was upgraded. How many seperate email address do you have set up on your blackberry? ( and if more then one, which one is set as default . As the default email address is the one that will sync with outlook , including the calendar for that email)

My main one into which the others feed into is XXXXX@XXXXXX.XXX. I would expect that to be the default one, but i seem to receive emails on the blackberry XXXXX@XXXXXX.XXX

How do i find which is my default email addresses on the blackberry?

but i also have on the blackberry XXXXX@XXXXXX.XXX, and XXXXX@XXXXXX.XXX

This is probably the issue, the email address associated with your calendar, isnt set as default.

Heres how to set a address as default.

  • 1. Press the Menu key.
  • 2. Scroll to and select Options.
  • 3. Select Advanced Options.
  • 4. Select Default Services.
  • 5. Select Messaging (CMIME).
  • 6. Select the required email account.
  • 7. Press the Back key.
  • 8. Select Save.
  • 9. The default email account has been set.

Once you set an account as default, lets set the default calendar too.

If you had more then one calendar here, take note.. As we need to make sure we are having the correct calendar try to sync with outlook.

Not fixed yet. I have changed on the blackberry the Default email address for both Messaging (CMIME) and Calender (CICAL). I don't understand, and can't follow, the 2nd part of your instructions saying "set the default calender" what home screen am i working off? is this Microsoft Office Calender, or the Blackberry Desktop software - neith seem to have "Advanced system settings" to change.

OK.thanks. I have now done all said about changing the default settings, and it is still NOT syncing.

Any other ideas?

Before we move on, to be certain.

You have set the default CMIME and default CICAL should be set to the same email address, and that address should be your default calendar. And this will be the calendar that Desktop Manager sync's with Outlook.

So default calendar, cical, and cmime are all exactly the same on the blackberry now?

And when you look at the calendar on the blackberry after setting it this way, your seeing your dates and entries on the phone itself still?

Yes. I think i have done all that. Certainly cical and cmime on on the same default and the dates and entries on the calendar on the BlackBerry are from the same email email address. However i can't see how to fix the calendar on a particular default, is it in Calendar, then select Calendar? i assume so.

yes, looking at blackberry i am seeing the dates and entries in the Blackbeery calendar.

So still not syncing, i am sorry to say.

Thanks for double checking everything..

Lets try backing up all your blackberry data on the BlackBerry desktop program.. Then deleting the calendar data and tryingt to resync again.

1. Use Desktop Manager to backup the device first
2. In Desktop Manager select Device > Delete Data > Delete "Calendar" and "Calendar - All" if listed
3. In Desktop Manager select Organizer and select Reset Settings
4. On the device ensure the correct calendar is set under the Default Service
5. Reconfigure you sync settings in Desktop Manager and resync the device to outlook.

Hopefully t his does the trick, if not, dont hesitate to let me know!

No. This didn't work!!

now the first most important thing is to get my backed up, but deleted, calendar back on to the BlackBerry. How do i do this? it didn't go back when i just tried to sync.

Plug your BlackBerry into your computer and click on the arrow next to Device in the upper left hand corner of the desktop manager screen, and then select Restore. You will be asked to choose your backup file and the data to restore.

I have now Restored Calender on to the Blackberry. thank goodness for that!

However we haven't yet solved the sync problem.

When are next on duty? it is late now in the UK, and i am retiring to bed.

I look forward to your next idea for fixing the sync

Im on east coast time.. And I should be on duty from 11 am to about 9 pm tommorow, and sunday, as well as next week... Though my hours may start earlier or end earlier by an hour or two during the weekdays..

Yes, But before we proceed.. I would like to back up, and ask some questions I thought I had asked to begin with, but after reading over our communications, I never actually asked.

Was this phone ever syncing correctly with this computer?

If it was, or is syncing correctly , is it only the calendar thats having an issue?

Yes, it was syncing fine until a few days ago. i think the problem started occurring when the Blackberry desktop software was updated to the latest version. No it not just the calender, it is also contacts, and memos that are not currently syncing.

Thanks for getting back to me, and my apologies for the delay Jimmy.

For some reason, I didnt see your reply on Saturday. Though I see your reply from yesterday, and with it your reply from saturday now.

That being said..I think our best bet is to create a full backup of the phone first. And all the data , using the desktop manager.

And then lets do a wipe of the phone.. Heres how.

Remember, you want to make a backup first. Once you have backed up the phone.

Wipe it. Then when finished.

With a clean phone.. Please run through these steps below to start a fresh sync with outlook.
