The front wheel flange bearing keeps wearing out on

Customer Question

The front wheel flange bearing keeps wearing out on craftsman yt4500. It only happens on one side. It is greased frequently so that isn't the issue. I have replaced it twice within less than a year.
JA: I'll do all I can to help. How long have you been dealing with this?
Customer: 2 seasons
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: yes
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: Well, I don't have a way to haul the tractor and being a female, I probably need good details. I am somewhat mechanically inclined and can figure things out usually.

Have you checked to see if there is any wear on your axle shaft?

Expert:  Donald replied 12 days ago.

If you are turning to your left more frequently, than to your right, or vise verse, this can cause your bearings to wear sooner on one wheel, than on the opposite wheel.

You may need to consider replacing your axle spindle shaft the next time you replace your wheel bearings, just in case your axle shaft is worn enough to cause premature wear to your wheel bearings.
