Small Engine Troubleshooting Problems? Ask a Mechanic Now.
Hello. Thank you for choosing Just Answer. My name is***** will be happy to assist you.
What brand is your engine?
I'm back with you. Thanks for your response. How long has it been since your engine last started up and performed to your satisfaction?
The phone call is not needed.
6 weeks ago, did you shut your engine off, or did you engine shut off on its own?
I would like for you to try something for me.
If you have some carburetor cleaner in a can, or starting fluid, spray a small burst directly into your carburetor, to see if your engine will start up and run briefly. If you do not have carburetor cleaner in a can, or starting fluid, remove your spark plug and pour about a teaspoon of gas directly into your spark plug hole, re-install your spark plug, then try starting your engine.
Also, check the fuel shut off solenoid on your carburetor.
Your fuel shut off solenoid should click each time you cycle your ignition switch on and off. It has a spring loaded plunger that must retract, when your ignition switch is on, to allow fuel to flow within your carburetor. Sometimes this part will fail either before, or after it reaches full operating temperature.
No problem. I will be here later. Take your time.
You are very welcome!
