Customer Question

I have a B & S small engine 23C 707019 3541. Mice ate the insulation on coil. Got a new coil to put on the core. One of the wires goes down behind the flywheel. What is behind the flywheel? Can it be checked without removing the flywheel? How hard is it to take off the flywheel?

Is the wire you are referring to, a small black wire, that attaches to a terminal on your ignition coil?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.

Thanks for this information. Can you double check the model numbers for your engine? The numbers you posted, are not working for me.

The numbers I gave you are what is stamped on the engine plate.

I understand. I wanted to be specific. The black goes to your points and condenser. You will need to pull your flywheel, in order to access the opposite end of this wire.

I got the flyweel off. Checked out the points. Put Amsoil artic grease on the push rod to the points, tested the points and capacitor (~275 nF) set the points to 20 thousands, connected up the new coil on the old core.........it runs now.......The mice got down behind the flywheel.
