Customer Question

I have a 6.5KVA Onan generator ( early model - suspect around 1990)which works well, however I keep blowing the 25amp fuse from the starter to the positive side of the starter motor. Should this be a 25 or 30 amp fuse. Thanks, Warwick

What is the model number of the genset?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
HankThe model number of my Onan genset is
6.5MDKOP26501C The M at the start is hard to read so it may be a different letter.
The serial number is *****
The problem appears to be the heavy current drawer on starting which blows a 25amp or smaller fuse, but a 30amp fuse appears to cope - is it o'k to continue to use a 30amp fuse. Warwick

There is no model MDKOP.

The letters MDK are fine, but the rest of it is questionable.

Can you carefully recheck the model number?

Also, you stated the fuse is "between the starter and the positive side of the starter motor". Can you please clarify this for me?
