to verify we are talking about the spring inside the oil pump?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
the spring fits on the drive shaft and meshes with the cogs on the oil pump. the spring is referred to as a gear-worm spring. the part # of the spring is###-##-#### It requires a special tool to fit the spring so that the coils are spaced correctly.

There is an oiler removal tool available for you to use, to both remove and properly replace the spring you are referring to.

Expert:  Donald replied 2 months ago.

Although your chainsaw has the McCulloch color and logo, its manufacturer is the same as Husqvarna, Craftsman, Poulan, AYP, etc.

Expert:  Donald replied 2 months ago.

The part numbers for the tool are 530031166. You can purchase this tool from any small engine repair center, who are authorized Husqvarna, Poulan, or AYP dealers. You can also see an image of this tool, and purchase it online, in the link below.
