How old is the battery in your mower?

Expert:  Donald replied 2 months ago.

I am lead to believe that although your battery reading shows 12 volts, your voltage could be dropping too low during starting up. This is likely the reason for the clicking and buzzing sounds.

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
Battery is only 3 months old
Expert:  Donald replied 2 months ago.

Thanks for your reply. Do you have a multimeter?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
it's reading 12 volts
Customer: replied 2 months ago.
is the starter and selnoid
Expert:  Donald replied 2 months ago.

We need to determine what your voltage readings are, as you are attempting to start your engine. Your voltage could be dropping too low during start up.

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
it's dropping
Expert:  Donald replied 2 months ago.

Thank you for checking. I would get your battery tested, or fully charged.

Brand new battery 10 minutes ago turns but won't start
Customer: replied 2 months ago.
With brand new battery the motor would spin but then after trying for a minute goes to clicking then to buzzing. I have checked all cables and no corrosion also check ground from mower to battery
Expert:  Donald replied 2 months ago.

Remove your spark plugs, then check to see if your engine spins freely. How low does your voltage drop?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
Battery drops to 3 volts and the motor spins freely with plugs out
Expert:  Donald replied 2 months ago.

3 volts is much too low. Although your battery is new, I believe it is at fault.

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
I don't believe so because if I by pass the selnoid it does the spin but not start
Expert:  Donald replied 2 months ago.

If your engine will spin if you bypass your solenoid, but your voltage drops to 3 volts if you turn your key, there has to be a bad or loose connection somewhere. With your key in start position, check your voltage on both of your solenoid post, to see if the reading is the same. Let's see if the input and output readings are the same.
