my briggs/Stratton 19.5 hp platinum turbo cooled twin cylinder will not start, blows gas back up through carburetor. can remove right cylinder spark plug and engine will start.
right cylinder has compression and spark.

With a Briggs twin, having spark and compression, I would check the valves on the dead cylinder, and I expect you will find a bent or broken pushrod.

this model engine is not an overhead valve engine.

Model number? You can still check the valve clearance through the crankcase vent covers on the front of the engine.
