I'm trying to remove the belt from the 44in johndeere snowblower drive pulley on which there is a belt guide over the edge of the pulley that prevents me from getting the belt off the pulley.

Do you habe the Deere model number? The one in the OM manual below, shows belt guides to be on two idlers that have to be loosened for belt to be replaced.??? See service section, belt replacement.
