I'm having a Generac 16KW generator installed and would like

Customer Question

I'm having a Generac 16KW generator installed and would like to run it off of a standard propane tank. The generator has a 3/4" gas (LPG) receiver. Is it possible to attach standard LPG tanks to this generator?

A portable LP tank will not produce sufficient vapor volume to run this genset. It would start and run for a few seconds, then run out of gas, if it would even start at all.

For a 16 kW unit, you need a minimum of a 500 gallon tank if your temperatures ever drop to 0 degrees, or a 250 gallon tank if your temperatures never drop below 20 degrees, or a 120 gallon tank if your temperatures never drop below 40 degrees.
