Customer Question

We have a Toro diesel mower, model #74265. When we try to turn on the blades
nothing happens. There is no broken belt or anything loose that we can see. We cannot see any broken wires. We took the cover off the part where the starter and the part that
you pull to turn on the blades is but could find nothing wrong. So we took it to our Toro
dealer a week ago and he hasn't even looked at it yet. It is summer and we have a lot of
grass to mow, so just wondered if you have any ideas or if we can fix it ourselves.
Thanks, ***** *****

If blades are not engaging it is normally either the PTO switch or the Clutch. PTO switch can be checked for ohms and the clutch can be tested by putting power directly to it from another power source. Both of these can be done at home if you order the correct parts

What other source of power do we use?
Expert:  JON replied 9 months ago.

a battery charger and wire or you can use wires and jumper cables from a car to power it. any other 12V power source
