Customer Question

onan 6.5 mcck...exhaust broke while running and i fixed the pipe but now wont start...appears to not be getting spark as i sprayed starting fluid in and it wont pop. i also checked one of the plugs and it was dry so i guess no fuel either..i know it has the safety overheat shutdown but doesnt it reset itself ??? vintage 1984

If it is not getting spark, the most likely causes, in order, are bad points or a bad coil.

The overheat shut down does reset itself once it cools down.
